A Look At 2006
New Year’s Eve is my least favorite holiday. Usually it’s too cold to do anything but drink. I’m cold-blooded so I like the holidays where it’s too hot to do anything but drink.
I know 5 trillion posts on this subject are being published right now, but I still can’t resist. I’m going to focus on 2006 while it’s still around and post my goals for 2007 tomorrow.
Things I did wrong in 2006
Everyone makes mistakes. Here are things that I wish didn’t happen in 2006:
- Adsense Account Ban: It’s not what you think. While I was getting settled in a new country I was away from the internet for a couple of weeks. During this time, some of my scripts inserted some adult keywords onto several of my sites. Adsense had already warned me about this, so they went ahead and disabled my account. The worst part about all this is that I could have prevented it if I just had implemented a better filter.
- Unfinished Projects: I probably started dozens of white hat projects and sites in 2006 and none of them saw the light of day. This isn’t good because all the time I spent on each of them probably adds up to over a month of full-time work where I didn’t see any ROI. I need to be better at deciding which projects are worth my time and seeing them through to the end.
Things I did right in 2006
Here are some reasons why 2006 will be fondly remembered:
- I Finally Got It Right: All through 2005 I struggled to learn the ropes and was still making pennies per day. I remember back in January I made $400 and thought it was the best thing that ever happened. Little did I know that less than 12 months later I’d be raking in over 20 times that.
- I Quit My Day Job: Enough said.
I have reason to believe 2007 is going to be even better!
