AuctionAds Is Collecting Your Keywords
I realize that my last three posts have been about AuctionAds. Sorry. I’ll try to lay off them for a bit, but this news is too important to let slide.
I found a thread over at wickedfire where jdq pulled apart the obfuscated AuctionAds JavaScript code and discovered it was harvesting keywords from your referers.
The way it works is pretty simple. If someone comes to your page from a search engine, AuctionAds grabs the term they searched for and stores it in their database.
It looks like the ugly part of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly has come to light!
I’m surprised more people aren’t jumping all over this. What makes it even more interesting is that Shoemoney hypocritically bashed MyBlogLog for doing something very similar.
It will be interesting to see if there’s any sort of backlash for this. Shoemoney certainly has his share of fanboys, so I wonder if there will even be a backlash.

Hypocrisy at it’s very worst, if this is true. I’m no coding wizard, so I surely couldn’t back up the findings. But it is a little disturbing to find that out, especially after Shoemoney had the hissy fit at Mybloglog…. wonder how this one will play out.
