Buying Paid Reviews For Affiliate Links
If paid reviews start to get traction in the mainstream, I wonder if we’ll start seeing people paying for reviews of products they are affiliated with.
The best way to illustrate what I’m talking about is with an example, so let’s hypothetically say we bought a review on John Chow for the purpose of getting affiliate commissions.
I know that I’ve been picking on John Chow lately, but he’s the best example I can use because he publishes his blog’s income and the results of his advertising.
Ok, so to do this I would buy a review on John’s blog and have him review AGLOCO using my affiliate link. I can probably assume that he’s going to write a post very similar to this one, and I can only hope that this yields the 7000+ referrals that his blog has generated.
I don’t use AGLOCO, so I don’t know how much 7000+ referrals are worth, but I can’t think of an easier way to get that many signups than by dropping a couple hundred dollars.
I know this example is reaching a bit because John has made several posts about AGLOCO, but I think you see where I’m going with this. All you need to do is be on the lookout for products/services that fit a blog’s target audience that the blogger hasn’t found yet.
I don’t think buying a review for a product you’re affiliated with would work right now because (from what I can tell) the bloggers who are participating in these systems are pretty savvy. However, once it goes mainstream I think the opportunity will present itself.

This is already happening. Aaron Wall bought a review on my blog about his SEO Book. So far the review has sold over a dozen copies at $79 each. Text Link Ads and Auction Ads has purchased reviews on my blog. Both companies were extremely happy with the resulting sign ups.
Hi John,
Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough. The situation I’m talking about is if I (or another third party) were to buy a paid review on your site using an affiliate link to SEO Book.
So you would get a request to do a review for wagerank.seobook.hop.clickbank.net. I would then pocket all the affiliate sales and hope that I made out on my $250 investment.
cdc, I think you may have a golden idea here. You’re right though - it may be difficult to get a big name to do the review….
But if done correctly ( and if the review is positive, very key ) I could see this bringing in a pile of cash without too much work / investment. Keep us posted if you try it.
