Is AuctionAds The Death Of Chitika?
I had the opportunity to speak with Alden DoRosario (Chitika’s CTO) a couple years ago when Chitika first broke out onto the scene. At the time, he told me that he believed that ebay was the most likely company to buy Chitika.
Now that ebay has partnered with AuctionAds, it doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon.
AuctionAds is the latest direct competitor to Chitika and it will be interesting to see which one comes out on top.
Both programs can be used alongside Adsense and YPN.
Both programs are best suited for websites that target specific products.
Both programs have similar ad sizes (with Chitika offering many nontraditional ad sizes as well).
Both programs have a similar look.
The main difference between AuctionAds and Chitika is their payment model. AuctionAds is CPA and Chitika is CPC.
Depending on how this all plays out, this may be indicative of a change across the industry with more people abandoning CPC for CPA.
Only time will tell…

[…] Is AuctionAds The Death Of Chitika? […]
first, ebay has NOT partnered with auctionads.
second, auctionads is using CJ to server affiliate ads based on ebay auctions. ebay uses CJ as their affiliate manager. auctionads uses CJ.
so, auctionads is working with CJ, not Ebay. got it?
He is right. Auction ads is ONE affiliate with ebay through cj and they give out better commissions since they are on the higher tier of the ebay commission structure.
Chitika is probably going to die or at least struggle because many of the products aren’t ever relevant unless you have sites on very general topics like plasma tv’s.
[…] CPA It’s nice to have an ad network that supports all the standard ad sizes, but pays CPA instead of CPC. If you have targeted traffic that is in the “buying state of mind” you’ll do much better with AuctionAds than with its competitors. […]
