Political Link Spam
Akismet is pretty good at blocking out comment spam. In general, it flags comments that have several links or flagged keywords (casino, pills, porn, etc.) in them because these comments are typically worthless.
It was of no surprise that this comment easily made it through Akismet on WageRank this morning:
Bush is forever saying that democracies do not invade other countries and start wars. Well, he did just that. He invaded Iraq, started a war, and killed people. What do you think? Why has bush turned our country from a country of hope and prosperity to a country of belligerence and fear.
Are we safer today than we were before?The more people that the government puts in jails, the safer we are told to think we are. The real terrorists are wherever they are, but they aren’t living in a country with bars on the windows. We are.
Notice how there are no links in the body of the comment, but it obviously has nothing to do with my blog’s topic. The spammer’s intention wasn’t to get links, but to get his message out.
I can only imagine how many Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Rudolf Giuliani comments I’ll be deleting the closer we get to 2008…
