Trying MyBlogLog
If you haven’t already heard by now, MyBlogLog was bought by Yahoo! in the most recent indication that we’re in another tech bubble.
I’m not going to pretend I have any inside information about the deal because I don’t. In fact, I had never really heard of MyBlogLog until the deal took place and a couple blogs I read mentioned it. Once I visited the site I realized they were responsible for all those “Blog Community” boxes that I’ve started to see popping up.
I decided to go ahead and get myself an account to see what all the hype was about.
As far as I can tell, MyBlogLog gives blog owners a way to see who reads their blog. The readers of a certain blog can also connect and see who is interested in the same blogs as them.
It’s a great idea. I wish I thought of it. Especially since Yahoo! thought it was worth $10mil…
Anyway, the only complaint I have in the few hours I’ve been a member is that the widget seems to take a long time to load. I’ve moved it to the bottom of the sidebar so it doesn’t slow down the site too much. This is unfortunate because I’d like to feature it a little higher, but not at the expense of slowing the site down. Maybe Yahoo! can throw some more hardware at it and get it to run a little faster.
If you want to sign up for an account, you will be able to see your mugshot on the WageRank Community sidebar widget.
Imagine that! Your picture on a real-life blog on the internets!
Well, if that’s not enough to entice you, I’m not sure what is. Just be sure to join the WageRank Community because right now it’s looking a little empty.
